Colleagues from nexnet also drove through the streets of Berlin this year under this motto.
The famous cycling race took place in Berlin on July 03, 2022. With almost 12,000 participants, VeloCity is one of the biggest cycling events in Berlin. Cycling enthusiasts were able to put their skills to the test over a distance of 60 or 90 kilometers. Naturally, our hard-working cyclists from nexnet wanted to be there too. As a Berlin-based company, the city is very close to our hearts. We are also passionate about sporting events.
The route for the VeloCity
This year, the route led past numerous well-known sights in Berlin. Starting at the Brandenburg Gate, the participants headed to the Victory Column and then on towards Spandau. A highlight of the route was the spectacular Havelchaussee, where the cyclists rode along the Havel in perfect weather. The tour also headed towards Freie Universität Berlin, the Botanical Gardens and Steglitz Town Hall. Many spectators cheered on the athletes along the route. The good weather created a great atmosphere for cyclists and visitors alike.
There were even more highlights for the participants. The route led along the Checkpoint Charlie border crossing to the television tower and on towards the Friedrichstadt-Palast. The cyclists then cycled along the River Spree back to the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate.
Once again, the event inspired hundreds of people to get moving and be part of this great event. Our colleagues from nexnet were there, of course, and showed what they could do on their bikes.
Fun fact: We at nexnet not only support the sporting enthusiasm of our colleagues by paying the participation fee, but also sponsored jerseys in the design of our recently launched nexnet.cloud.
We also provide our colleagues with the option of a job bike as a special benefit.
Conclusion on the VeloCity
This cycling event offers a great route through Berlin, a great atmosphere among the spectators and participants and it strengthens team spirit.
It was also a successful event for us in sporting terms, as the participants crossed the finish line with great times. "At the end, everyone who made it to the finish line received a well-deserved medal. It was my first bike race, but I'm definitely planning to take part again next year, possibly even riding the 90 km lap," says Stefan Zerjatke.
Christian Kunert also says: "We will be happy to take part in VeloCity again next year."
