Adobe increases revenue through subscription model

Adobe has been offering its Creative Suite exclusively in a subscription model (SaaS) since 2013. While some users were upset by the switch from software purchase to software rental, it was an extremely successful change for the company. In the first year after the move to the cloud, Adobe stock rose 81%. Before the launch of Creative Cloud, Adobe had 12.8 million customers using different versions of Creative Suite.

The new subscription numbers show that Adobe has not only been able to convince all current users to use the cloud, but has been able to attract many new users to the cloud. A key benefit for users is that the software is now always up to date and buying annual updates is a thing of the past.
